Meet Roman (of Latvia) + Ioana (of Romania)!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your tiny home

We are Roman & Ioana, two dreamers, explorers, nomads.
We enjoy freedom and living life to the fullest. We’ve met in Switzerland back in 2014 and we are now preparing for our biggest adventure: traveling together around the world in a van (our hippie Leni).

We bought Leni (a VW LT35) in November 2017 and we started to restore it to our needs.
It is now a fully off-grid campervan and we already started to explore Switzerland and the neighbor countries in it.

Roman is from Latvia and Ioana is from Romania.

What's your working situation like? How do you sustain life on the road?

We're entrepreneurs but aren't currently working.

What ultimately made you choose this lifestyle?

First of all our passion to travel and discover new cultures.
We are also trying to escape routine and the 9 to 5 imposed by conventional society. We are both very spontaneous individuals and we don't like routine or be tied up to one place.

How long do you see yourself maintaining it?

We are happier than ever and we see this as a very long-term journey. We don't plan to stop any time soon.

3 Things I've Learned Living This Way

Patience.

To be more patient as well as to be more organized giving a fact that a tiny space can get messy very quickly.
Awareness.

To be more aware of our waste and water consumption.
Presence.

For us, the greatest lesson is being more aware of our surroundings and appreciating the time we get to spend together.

What's one of the biggest challenges you've faced by choosing your lifestyle?

When it's late night and we haven't yet found a parking spot for the overnight stay.

Do your research about what vehicle will fit your needs, but don't think too much before taking the first step before choosing this lifestyle (if you can).
